Shobha is an experienced tutor who has successfully prepared students for entrance exams to top schools, including Graveney, Whitgift, Westminster, Wycombe Abbey, and Dulwich College. With 8 years of teaching and tutoring experience, she holds a degree in English Literature from the University of Cambridge and is a fully qualified English and Modern Languages teacher. Her experience spans both primary and secondary education, from SATS booster classes and Common Entrance through to A Level and IB and so she has worked extensively with students with diverse learning needs, including those with SEND requirements.
As a former Head of Department and Head of Year in schools in London and Spain, Shobha has developed curricula for English, Spanish, and French, and has been responsible for overseeing Humanities Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs). Her experience gives her a deep understanding of what students need to do to achieve outstanding results, and she knows how to guide them toward meeting and exceeding academic standards with confidence. She particularly enjoys working with students who need confidence to explore their creative side, fostering a genuine enthusiasm for reading, writing, and critical thinking. Crucially, she encourages students to achieve the satisfaction of finding answers for themselves by equipping them with methods that are tailored to their unique needs and preferences.
In her spare time, Shobha is a film writer and journalist, having written for the Catalan News Agency and The Sunday Times. She aims to inspire a lasting passion for creativity and independent thinking in her students, equipping them not only with academic skills but also the confidence and curiosity to pursue their future aspirations.
