Profile

As a book publishing professional, Sarah is trained to teach English, literature, and language to a publishable level – even successful authors(!). With her degree in Classics from the University of Bristol and an MA in Publishing from UCL, she specialises in English and History up to KS3. Sarah’s approach to teaching is informed by three years working as an English tutor in Hong Kong. She taught students aged five to seventeen, carefully cultivating an environment in which each and every student’s learning style was catered to ensure they got the most out of their lessons. She prepared lesson plans and long-term teaching strategies that prepared students for tests, exams, and drastically improved their overall language abilities. Her teaching style is creative, dynamic, and intuitive – for example, designing new games to keep younger or reluctant students engaged or leading conversation-dominant classes for students under-confident in their speaking. Whether teaching phonics or best-practice in tests and exams, Sarah is committed to creating a safe, fun, and non-judgemental environment that will push students beyond their perceived capabilities and hopefully, foster a life-long love of learning.
