Pablo specialises in two areas of tuition: Spanish and Humanities subjects (History, Art History, Politics).
 
Pablo qualified as a Modern Languages teacher from the University of York, having trained at Fulford School — named Comprehensive School of the Decade by the Times Educational Supplement. Pablo has taught and tutored Spanish from KS3 through to A level, preparing students for GCSE oral examinations, supporting high-ability sixth formers, and designing targeted resources for students who needed additional support with literacy and written skills. He is familiar with both the AQA and Edexcel specifications. As a published writer and translator working between English and Spanish — his critical edition of George Eliot's essays was the first anthology of her work ever published in Spanish, receiving critical acclaim in El País — Pablo brings to his Spanish tuition an unusually rich cultural and linguistic perspective that goes well beyond the exam syllabus.
 
Pablo also has an AHRC-funded PhD in Arts and Humanities from the Royal College of Art (2019-2024) and an MA in 19th-Century Studies from King's College London. He has held, lecturing positions on postgraduate programmes at several UK and international universities, including the Royal College of Art, Glasgow School of Art, the University of Dundee and the University of Navarra (Spain), and served as Module Leader in Curatorial Practice at Teesside University. Much of his lecturing has focused on developing effective writing techniques which, as a private tutor, he has used to help GCSE, A-level and undergraduate students with their History and Art History coursework.

Pablo has been a lively, engaging and friendly English tutor, who was happy to chat to them in Spanish to make them feel comfortable, before gently introducing them to English vocabulary and grammar. I want to take this opportunity to say how much we liked working with Pablo! We wish we’d found him sooner. Pablo was extremely patient and kind and he worked at the perfect pace. Pablo tapped into some of our sons other interests and incorporated them within his teaching, so coming from a place of anxiety around the subject of Spanish, his confidence quickly increased and he really enjoyed learning with Pablo, even within so few lessons. We’ll definitely keep Pablo in mind if we need any further support.
