Orest studied Biomedical Sciences at Roehampton University where he was awarded a First Class Honours degree. During his time at Roehampton he worked as part of a research group investigating treatments for leukaemia and developed a range of academic and laboratory skills. After graduating, he undertook a Masters of Research in Biosciences (Cell Biology) at UCL which was awarded with a distinction. At UCL he oversaw his own research project on the immunology of patients with kidney disease and supervised medical students as well as other MSc students in the lab, guiding them on experiments he designed. His academic career to date has culminated in more than 4 publications in reputable journals, polishing his scientific expertise. Orest has a strong passion for science and is planning to pursue doctoral studies in the future alongside his tutoring commitments.
Following his MRes studies, he began working as a teaching assistant in a school in North London specialising in children with SEN and then moved on to work as a science tutor for GCSE and A-Level students. Orest is also an examiner with OCR and Pearson which he frequently teaches in and can provide excellent insight in exam preparation and marking schemes. He has received positive feedback from students and parents alike. Orest makes sure his students find interest in the subjects he teaches and adapts his teaching style to match each child's individual learning needs and build a healthy learning relationship. He places an emphasis on comprehending the bigger picture of scientific concepts as opposed to raw memorisation. Orest believes that a well-rounded education is not only essential for exceling academically but also a fundamental life skill that will aid students in their personal development.
