Profile

Mark is an extremely experienced teacher with 25 years of experience teaching French and German at both GCSE and A Level. Mark has always had a passion for languages and pursued this to obtain a 2:1 in French and German from Leicester University. He has a PGCE in Modern Languages from the University of Manchester and has a working knowledge of Portuguese from having lived and worked in Lisbon. Mark has had extensive experience as both an Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher and has developed a strong skills-set in terms of his teaching. He has worked closely with the OCR, Edexcel and AQA examination boards as well as organising and running GCSE preparation workshops prior to both Mock and GCSE examinations. He has an empathetic and understanding manner and firmly believes in a student-centred approach that provides students with the confidence they need to learn and to successfully build on and extend prior knowledge. He has a proven track record with students achieving high grades in French and German as well as in Cambridge First Certificate and Proficiency examinations in English as a Foreign Language.

Mark tutored our son for his German GCSE. My son wasn’t very fond of languages but he really enjoyed the tutorials with Mark who was very organised, reliable and well prepared throughout. We are profoundly grateful to Mark for his inspiring tuition. Mark taught our daughter French from scratch. She made a tremendous amount of progress in only a few months and she also developed a genuine interest in the language. She has now started secondary school with a real enthusiasm for French, and she wants to travel to France to put her new-found language skills to good use.
