Profile

Lewis is an experienced tutor specialised in teaching Maths and French up to A-level, both one-to-one and to classes of up to 20 students. Alongside his subject matter expertise, Lewis uses his professional experience as a strategy consultant and his creative practice as an artist in order to help his students achieve outstanding results. A Mathematics graduate from Durham University, he was awarded a 1st Class degree with an average of over 80%. During his degree, he spent a year studying Mathematics and Philosophy in Tokyo while also working as a French teacher. Upon his return to Durham Lewis continued to teach, undertaking a specialised course in Maths Teaching, which involved working as a Maths Teaching Assistant in schools. Upon graduating, Lewis secured a position at a competitive consulting firm where he worked for 3 years, supporting senior leaders in the public sector to define and deliver their business strategies. In the evenings, Lewis volunteered for Centrepoint Charity tutoring Maths A-level to young people in their care. With sensitivity and insight, Lewis creates tailored and engaging lesson plans that listen to the unique needs of each of his students. He believes in the importance of his students gaining a genuine understanding of key concepts, moving beyond rote learning and setting them up for long term success. As a kind, thoughtful and hard-working tutor, Lewis uses his knowledge and experience to help his students learn and grow to their full potential. Lewis is a native French and English speaker. Outside of the classroom, he can be found working as a ceramic artist in his studio or exploring the great outdoors.
