Profile

Josiah read Modern Languages and Cultures (Spanish and Italian) at Durham University graduating with a high 2:1 and loves teaching all things language and communication. He is an energetic, attentive and friendly teacher who tailors each class to how a child learns best. He will communicate clearly with parents and children to establish our aims and then outline how we are going to get there. His lessons are a creative alternative to school and he has over 500 hours experience tutoring online and in-person, having taught in the UK, Ecuador, Italy, Hong Kong and Vietnam. His experiences have spanned international curricula (he is particularly familiar with the IB having studied this himself) along with interview preparation, essay writing, English language and foreign languages. Josiah has personal experience with entrance exams and interviews to prestigious private schools and grammars, attending the highly competitive Christ’s Hospital school and gaining several scholarship offers to other independent schools. He is keen to share his learning with children making their applications to ensure they are confident, comfortable and prepared to shine and show their uniqueness at interview. Outside of teaching, Josiah has experience with SEND and other neurodiverse cohorts and led a project placing people with learning disabilities, autism and mental ill health into employment. He created personal growth plans and built confidence in his clients, preparing them for the workplace. He is a keen travel writer and musician.

Testimonials

Our son has absolutely loved Josiah, and I can really see an improvement in his work. Josiah keeps things entertaining and fun, so our son never dreads it as he has done previously.
When we are back next year we would definitely want to continue although I am sure Josiah will be far too busy for us by then.
