Profile

Dr. Jasper Llewellyn is a tutor, academic researcher, artist and musician with extensive professional experience tutoring and in the Arts and Higher Education sectors. He has particular experience working with primary level children. As a tutor, Jasper adopts an empathetic and encouraging approach, seeking to first and foremost build his students’ confidence in their own academic skills and interests. He particularly enjoys working with primary level children in order to help them establish the basics of both Maths and English through an approach that is focused, affirmative and fun. He also has experience preparing children for entrance exams into secondary school. Jasper attended Brighton College in Sussex with academic and music scholarships, studying humanities and arts. He then went on to study Drama and Art History at the University of Manchester where he achieved a First Class degree. Following this, he went on to complete a Masters degree in Performance Making at Goldsmiths College, University of London, achieving a Distinction. In 2023, Jasper completed his PhD at Northumbria University, based in the Fine Art department. As part of his PhD, he gave lectures to undergraduate students, presented at academic conferences in the UK and Europe while developing his own research skills and academic profile. Concurrently with his academic studies, Jasper has developed his own musical practice to a high professional standard, forming the critically-acclaimed band ‘caroline’ in 2017. As a founding member of ‘caroline’, he has performed in the USA, the UK and Europe alongside releasing albums via Rough Trade Records and recording a Tiny Desk Session in April 2023. Jasper enjoys balancing academic and creative work while also working with students. He is keen to develop his experience working with students of a range of ages and experiences, using his extensive experience of the Higher Education and Arts sectors to help students achieve their goals.
