Since leaving Eton College and Edinburgh University in 2006 George has worked extensively in the UK and internationally as a private tutor. Having first started working with children as a mentor, George is uniquely equipped to be a tutor. As well as schoolwork he helped with sports, transport, food and hobbies. Experience as a mentor gave him a real understanding of each child's needs which went beyond simply the academic.

He has worked with pupils of varying abilities and who studied at different stages, from Common Entrance to GCSE level. As well as providing the highest standard of teaching, his background in wider childcare equips him to maximise not only results but also each individual student's enjoyment and confidence in their work. Having achieved a place in the top third of his Common Entrance exam to Eton, he is keenly aware of the standards that need to be met at this level. His former employer describes him as approachable, encouraging and engaging, with tutorial sessions which are nicely paced and well structured. He believes clear structure and goals are critical but at the same time, as his former employer puts it, he appreciates that pushing too hard would simply undermine further learning and understands the balance between humour and rigour.
