Bridie’s achievements at school (5 A* s 5 As at GCSE, A* A* B at A Level) led them to gain their undergraduate degree in English and Drama at the University of Exeter. Bridie went on to gain teaching experience as a Learning Support Assistant with SEN students in several London schools, eventually training as an English teacher at a top South London secondary school. As such, Bridie is well acquainted with the national curriculum and marking specifications.
With several years experience of private tutoring alongside this, Bridie’s inventive and individualised tutoring style balances finding fun in order to connect to the subject with nailing the all-important do’s and don’t’s of exam prep.
Central to Bridie’s ethos is the instilling of confidence in students – something students often don’t even realise they lack. Bridie graduated this summer with their Masters in Acting from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and won an award starring in their debut feature film earlier this year. As an acting teacher at South London’s top youth theatre, Bridie is a creative, understanding and patient communicator. Their background also includes creative writing and arts journalism, with training from the London School of Journalism. Bridie offers guidance with personal statement writing and entrance interview preparation.
A classically-trained singer and pianist, Bridie firmly believes that helping students find connections between their passions and their less confident subjects prepares them to exceed their expectations.
