Ashley is a passionate and committed tutor with first-class communication skills. He sympathetically supports his students and helps them to achieve their full potential.
Ashley read History at Trinity College, Oxford and achieved a First-class degree. Ashley is a professional teacher – a graduate of the prestigious Teach First teacher-training programme.
Alongside his daily classroom experience Ashley has extensive tutoring experience from GCSE to A’level.
Through classroom and tutoring work Ashley has mastered a broad range of topics - from familiar subjects like the First and Second World Wars and the Russian Revolution to the history of British women, Islamic Empires and witchcraft – with dozens of other fascinating topics in-between. Ashley has also guided tutees through the planning, structuring and writing of extended essays as part of the A’level syllabus.
Ashley has taught at every ability level – in the classroom he has daily contact with pupils with a range of complex special educational needs.
Ashley has 3 children – all of whom have successfully navigated the challenges of 11+. Through this process he’s become familiar with the 11+ requirements of leading London schools – including King’s College Wimbledon, St Paul’s Boys and Girls, Latimer, Godolphin and Latimer, Notting Hill and Ealing, Dulwich College & Putney High School.
As an empathetic tutor, Ashley is looking forward to helping young people who are preparing for exams at all levels, or simply supporting their learning needs with plans, guidance, and encouragement.
In his spare time Ashley practices martial arts. He’s a 1st Dan (Black Belt) in Shorinji Kempo – a Japanese martial art – and teaches martial arts classes twice weekly. He’s also a committed hillwalker and has climbed 100 Scottish mountains.
