Tess is an encouraging, patient and knowledgeable London-based tutor who believes in an enthusiastic and individualised approach to tuition to engage her students and help them achieve the highest results.
Tess graduated with a First from Oxford University having studied Classical Archaeology and Ancient History and then went on to study law at BPP University, completing the GDL and LPC. She was an academic scholar at school and achieved 9A*s at GCSE and 3A*s and an A at A Level.
Tess has been a professional tutor for 5 years and she specialises in one-to-one tuition in English, History and Classical Studies. She also focuses on preparing students for 7+, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams, having successfully tutored pupils with entry to competitive schools including King’s Wimbledon, Eton, Wellington, Putney High, Wimbledon High and Latymer Upper. In addition, Tess has considerable experience assisting students with the application process to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. She has a thorough understanding of the curriculum and is knowledgeable on exam technique, essay writing and study skills. Tess is passionate about education, and finds it incredibly rewarding helping students to develop their confidence and intellectual curiosity.
In her spare time, Tess enjoys reading, exercise and travelling. She has a particular interest in art, having recently undertaken an evening course on ‘Art and Finance in a Global Market’ at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Tess also devotes time to social issues around the world, having helped to establish the UK branch of the Jabulani Centre for disadvantaged women in KwaZulu Natal.
