    Scott has over 25 years of experience working as a teacher and tutor. Over the decades, he has taught a wide variety of subjects (English, Maths, History and Latin) at the widest range of levels, from primary to postgraduate. He has run classes ranging from large groups to one-to-one tutorials, tutored in-person and online, and taught in school classrooms, alternative education centres, university seminar rooms, public libraries, community centres and students’ homes.

    In the course of his teaching, he has helped a large number of students with special education needs, including dyslexia; dyspraxia; attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); autism spectrum disorder (ASD); Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD); Hearing and Visual Impairment; and challenging behaviour.

    He also has considerable experience of teaching his subjects at the highest levels of academic achievement to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Over the last four years, he has been an Associate Lecturer in Latin at the Courtauld Institute, University of London, teaching postgraduate students, and has worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in History at King’s College London, teaching undergraduates.

    All of this has been built upon a consistently first-class academic record. To date he has:

    • a first-class BA in English and American Literature and an MA in Studies in Modern Fiction, with distinction
    • a first-class BA in History and Archaeology, for which he won the department prize for coming first in his cohort, and an MA in Medieval History and Latin, with distinction
    • He is presently writing up his PhD in Medieval History and Latin at King’s College London, for which he gained a fully-funded scholarship

    He has a proven track record of success, a very high proportion of his students having achieved marked improvements, both in their results and in their confidence. Although the academic success of his students is always his primary goal, his approach to tutoring is patient, amiable and pupil-centred. Underpinning all his work is a thoroughgoing professionalism and a dedicated ethos of care. He has an up-to-date Enhanced DBS certificate which he brings to all of his tutorials, so that parents can rest assured that their children are in safe hands.
