Rahul is a qualified teacher with over 9 years experience tutoring a wide range of subjects and levels with great success. He is a current PhD researcher in child wellbeing at the Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures at Strathclyde.

He holds a First Class Honours degree in History from Durham, and an MPhil in Political Thought and Intellectual History from the University of Cambridge. Rahul has also completed the prestigious TeachFirst program, from which he qualified as an ‘Outstanding Teacher’. In 2021, he graduated with Distinction from his Postgraduate Diploma in Education. Rahul’s approach to planning and delivering bespoke tuition programs is therefore informed by the latest research on pedagogical best practice, as well as his wealth of experience. During this tutoring career, he has successfully prepared students for 7+, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams at top London schools such as Dulwich College, City of London and Bute House. He also works as a specialist subject tutor across a wide range of (I)GCSE, A Level, and IB exam boards. In particular, he has a wealth of experience offering Maths and English support up to GCSE level, French to IB/A level, as well as History up to undergraduate level (references available on request).

Rahul believes that getting to know the young person behind the student is key to understanding how best to engage their interest in the material. From the outset, he creates a friendly atmosphere that emphasises the importance of dialogue to the teaching process. Students are encouraged to actively ask questions and not be afraid to make mistakes. This develops their confidence, as well as nurturing their intellectual curiosity and passion for the subject. Rather than lecturing them (and quickly losing their attention!), he tries as far as possible to guide their understanding from what they already know to more challenging material – encouraging them to share their own thoughts and ideas. He challenges them to explain what they think and why they think it, offering constructive feedback throughout this learning process. This Oxbridge-style tutorial format leads to deeper understanding of assessed material, as well as developing the crucial ability to think critically.
Beyond rote learning, the key to success (especially on assessment days!) is often confidence and academic maturity; and Rahul specialises in cultivating a sharp, creative and adaptable mindset in your child. Helping them become inquisitive and independent thinkers lays strong foundations for long term success not just in academia, but in life.’

    TESTIMONIAL
‘Thanks for getting in touch. Rahul is excellent. J has really enjoyed working with him and has come on leaps and bounds in confidence and skill. Almost after the first session he was progressing and his grades have climbed steadily so he is now getting B/A and even A* for essays.

He has his first A level history exam today and although he was very stressed he felt it went well.

They have at least one more session I think.

The whole experience has been second to none and has made a fundamental difference.’
    TESTIMONIAL
“Sessions with Rahul are going really well – I think they have quickly formed a connection and Rahul is so positive and full of energy, that it’s bringing [student} out of his shell. He seems to be developing the confidence to put pen to paper and develop his ideas more bravely, and really looks forward to every session.

Thanks for finding us such a great match!”
