Profile
Patrick grew up in South London and Berkshire and gained A grades in Maths, Further Maths, Latin, Chemistry, Theatre Studies and General Studies at A-level. He graduated with a BSc Mathematics degree from the University of Warwick before studying for a further BA in Acting at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
Since 2009 he has tutored children of all ages, primarily Mathematics from KS1 up to A-level, but also Latin and Sciences to GCSE and English to 13+. His broad experience includes specialist assignments: home-schooling, assessment reports for parents, working with SEN pupils, aiding foreign pupils adapting to UK syllabuses, and assisting students with behavioural problems. During Covid lockdowns he established a weekly Maths Puzzle Club on Zoom for Dulwich Tutors to engage KS2 students who wanted to explore the subject beyond the curriculum.
Patrick enjoys preparing students for entrance exams and his tutees have gained places at schools such as Dulwich College, Emanuel, Trinity, Whitgift, St Dunstans, Royal Russell and Sussex House.
He likes to establish a calm, relaxed and light-hearted atmosphere where students are encouraged to be curious and are not afraid to make mistakes; boosting the confidence of his tutees is a key part of his teaching style, as this is often a barrier to progress. When not tutoring, Patrick enjoys going to the theatre and cinema, doing DIY and carpentry around the house, and eternally trying to learn Italian.
