Oliver is a passionate teacher of History and is in charge of the Politics Department at a highly academic Private School in Croydon. He has two Masters Degrees, in European History and Political Philosophy, attaining distinctions in both. He believes that high quality teaching is both fun and engaging – and he will endeavour to find an approach that ignites your child’s curiosity and enthusiasm.

He teaches OCR History at A-level with specialisms in 19th-20th Century Russian History, the Stuarts and the Crusades. He is also proficient in the requirements of coursework. He has previously taught and tutored to both the AQA and Edexcel specifications. At GCSE he has taught broadly but can offer particularly well-tailored resources for Weimar and Nazi Germany, the Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, 20th Century China, The Fall of Communism and the Arab-Israeli Crisis but thrives on developing materials for whatever courses students find challenging.  He teaches Edexcel Government and Politics and has attended exam board training, so he is well versed in the requirements of the new specifications. He previously taught OCR Political Ideologies and is an expert in helping students who struggle with this aspect of the course. He particularly enjoys teaching Global Politics but has previously taught and tutored the more popular module on the politics of the United States.

He is an experienced supervisor of the Extended Project Qualification and is well placed to tutor the skills necessary for students to become independent, critical and reflective writers. He enjoys helping students develop the skills required to structure their thoughts and arguments and convey them persuasively and passionately in pieces of extended writing. Additionally, he is a Sixth Form tutor with extensive knowledge of the UCAS process and can support with personal statement composition. He has had a 100% A*-B A-level pass rate in all subjects for the last 4 years and a 99% 9-7 (or equivalent) score at IGCSE.
