Miles is a conscientious and responsive tutor. He believes that confidence is key to academic success and adopts an encouraging tutoring style to help students recognise their own potential. From this foundation, he works with students to develop personalised schemes of study that address particular sticking points with course content. In addition, Miles equips his students with tools that will help them to approach questions with a critical mindset and develop sophisticated responses.
Miles has had a wide range of educational experiences, from a seven-month stint teaching English in La Réunion, to delivering academic summer school courses in Oxford and, more recently, teaching Government and Politics A-level at an independent girl’s school in Hertfordshire. He specialises in History tuition (11-18) and also teaches Government and Politics (A-level), Classics (GCSE/A-level), English (11-16), and 11+ entrance examinations.
After graduating top of the Arts and Social Sciences Faculty at Royal Holloway, University of London with a First in History, Miles was awarded a Peter Storey Scholarship to study at Balliol College, Oxford, where he graduated MSc with a Distinction in the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology.
