Lindsay has been teaching English at secondary school level for nearly 20 years. She is well qualified and experienced to teach GCSE English Language and Literature and A-level English Literature. She is an examiner for AQA at GCSE level, but has experience teaching all exam boards. Lindsay is able to guide students to exam success and her excellent exam results, year after year, are testament to this. She also has extensive experience teaching KS3 English and, having been a sixth form tutor for many years, is also well equipped to help with UCAS personal statements. Lindsay is aware of and caters to the needs of all of her students, including those with SEN and students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Lindsay qualified with a BA degree in English Literature and a PGCE, both from the University of South Africa, and has been teaching ever since. She also has industry experience in other fields, including experience as an editor and a writer of book reviews for online and print publications.
Lindsay has taught at a wide variety of schools, including a secondary school and a tertiary college in South Africa and, for the last 15 years, at comprehensive and grammar schools in the UK. Lindsay has most recently been working as a tutor for the National Tutoring Programme, tutoring students at KS3 and GCSE.
Her experience as an examiner, a teacher and a tutor have equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach exam technique in such a way that is accessible to students and that allows them to perform to their maximum potential in exam conditions.
Lindsay is a creative and energetic teacher and is concerned with the holistic development of every student that she teaches. In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys reading a variety of literature and her more active pursuits include swimming and cycling.
