He has a 2:1 in Modern Languages (German & Russian) and European Studies from the University of Bath and is a CELTA -certified teacher of English as a foreign language. He has tutored a variety of students in English, French, and German in private sessions. He is au fait with in-person as well as online teaching via Skype/Zoom, using appropriate classroom aids to ensure that the lesson quality is not reduced over to the digital platform.
Leo’s caring, empathetic and enthusiastic teaching style puts students at ease and into the best frame of mind for learning foreign languages. He uses a range of materials drawn from real life to deepen students’ understanding of the target language and culture, and sparking genuine interest within the student. He particularly enjoys supporting students with less confidence to achieve their potential, helping them to realise that they are much more capable than they might believe. He is particularly familiar with AQA, OCR and Edexcel exam boards at GCSE, iGCSE, and A-level, with extensive knowledge of both state and private school systems.
In his free time, Leo is an active musician and performer with a particular interest in stand-up comedy. He has wide-ranging performance experience in plays, musicals as well as singing in a cappella groups and playing musical instruments. Leo also loves to travel, learning about new cultures as well as studying different languages.
