Profile
John completed his PhD in philosophy at King’s College London in 2016. He has seven years experience working as an undergraduate tutor in philosophy and political theory at King’s. In addition to teaching at university, John has for many years worked with A Level and IB pupils, helping them achieve success in philosophy and religious studies exams. He also has extensive experience in general mentoring and enrichment, helping prepare pupils for competitive place interviews in the humanities and social sciences and the transition from school to university.
Having been through the education system himself at all levels, and having taught students up to Masters level, John is well attuned to the stresses and anxieties that preparing for exams and writing essays can produce. Consequently, his approach aims to build intellectual self confidence, so that students can relax and enjoy the work, leaving academic anxiety behind. In addition to his academic interests, John is a keen hill walker and sailor.
