Jenny is a friendly and highly experienced teacher with qualifications which include post graduate diplomas in teaching and learning as well as working with pupils with dyslexia.
She is patient and enthusiastic, believing that a sense of humour and fun are central to establishing a productive educational environment. She enjoys working with pupils across a variety of subject areas to establish how they learn best and uses a variety of teaching methods to match the pupil’s learning style.
During her 28 years in teaching Jenny has headed a department which provides study skills support for gifted and talented pupils as well as extended learning opportunities for pupils with specific learning needs.
Jenny is comfortable and confident in working with young people of all ages and levels. She has had great success tutoring Common Entrance at 7+, 9+, 11+ and 13+ into Alleyn’s, JAGs, St Dunstan’s, Eltham, Colfes, Sydenham High School and City of London School for Girls. Jenny is an expert in essay writing, revision and study skills techniques for A level and GCSE (until recently, she was an AQA GCSE English examiner.) She teaches Maths and English up to key stage 4 and has an extensive resource bank of materials to support pupils across a range of subjects.
Jenny lives in South East London and has 3 daughters. She has a wide range of interests and particularly enjoys cinema, theatre and the visual arts. She has set up and run community arts projects with children culminating in exhibitions at Keele and Brunel universities.
Jenny’s tutees have successfully gained places at Westminster, Dulwich College (academic scholarship), St Dunstan’s (academic scholarship) and Alleyn’s in the recent exams. For the academic year 20/21, Jenny has seen excellent success with her tutees for entrance examinations with 100% of pupils gaining places at one or more schools applied for, and a 90% acceptance rate out of all schools applied for. Further to this, 8 scholarships were awarded out of 18 confirmed places.

Jenny took the time to find out not only what my daughter needed help with, but also what interested her and how she worked best. This meant that she could tailor her teaching to fit with Eleanor’s learning skills.
