Helen is an enthusiastic and creative tutor who first started working in education in 2014 as a Teaching Assistant in Primary Schools across South East London. She worked individually with children as well as in the classroom providing support and encouragement across all subjects throughout KS1 and KS2. Helen has worked for a year with Southwark Visual Impairment providing one to one tutor support and significant experience in SEN education. Most recently she has worked for The Complete Works, a school specializing in a creative approach to learning, where she provided individual support in English and History for a GCSE student with Dyslexia.
For her BA, Helen received a 1st Class Honours in Fine Art, and her education influences the way she approaches teaching. She brings to her sessions kinetic and visual learning techniques, relates subjects to real life scenarios, and uses games as a way to make challenging learning fun. Helen is sensitive to the fact that some students may find certain aspects of school challenging so is always on the look out to find new ways to access the curriculum.
Helen has had experience running art workshops for families at Wysing Art Centre and the Whitechapel Gallery with students aged 4-14 and she has assisted Teaching Arts Award. Alongside tutoring Helen has her own art practice and her recent work have been exhibited with Wysing Arts in Cambridge, Channel Four Random Acts and Platform in Glasgow.
