    Profile

Flora is a bubbly, dedicated, and kind tutor who holds communication as a prime value. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford University (Magdalen College), an MSc in the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology from Oxford University (St Cross College) where she was awarded the History and Philosophy of Physics Scholarship. Following these Oxford degrees, she went on to achieve Distinction in the History of Art Graduate Diploma at the Courtauld Institute of Art. At her grammar school sixth form she was a top-ranking pupil across all subjects winning subject prizes for English Literature and History, and attained the highest GCSE results in her secondary school year group, being awarded the subject prizes for History, French, and English Literature.

She has worked in teaching and tutoring since she was in school: from being a volunteer Teaching Assistant at her local Primary School to leading overseas summer camps in Hong Kong and Japan. Since 2022 she has successfully tutored pupils 1:1 for exams, from school and university entrance to GCSE, A Level and equivalents. As well as exam preparation, Flora’s tutorials helps pupils with their school work, allowing them to extract more from the syllabus and develop upon aspects they want to work on. She has tutored extensively online using Zoom and Teams, and is familiar with the interactive potentials of online teaching. She is also familiar with the current UK exam boards for English Language and Literature specification for GCSE and A Level (and equivalents). Although not formally trained, she has supported disability students in learning environments, including neurodivergent pupils on the Hong Kong summer school and a disabled volunteer gaining work experience in hospitality when she worked in a cafe (2022-2023).

Flora’s interests include creative and non-fiction reading and writing, acting and going to the theatre, and sports (hiking, camping, running, football, rowing, horse riding, skiing, tennis – and more). She understands that well-rounded characters have lots of interests, and life isn’t all work and no play! Her empathetic and genuine approach to tutoring means each student is encouraged to do – and goes on to achieve – their best.
