Fintan is an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor with four years’ teaching experience. His tutoring practice is built around a student’s individual strengths and weaknesses, seeking to boost confidence and help them exceed their best.
Fintan graduated with a First in English Language and Literature at Wadham College, Oxford. He achieved 3 A*s at A Level, 5 As at AS, and 11 A*s at GCSE. He has taught privately from 11+ to A Level, and supported a number of successful applications to competitive London schools and top UK universities. He currently works part time as a teaching assistant at an outstanding local primary school. In both his tutoring and his TA work, he enjoys the opportunities for dialogue offered in the one-on-one learning scenario. He helps his students become self-reliant, independent learners, with a great appetite for their subjects. He has a broad knowledge of syllabi and exam boards. His subject specialisms are in 11+ & 13+ applications, Maths to GCSE and English up to A Level. Additionally, he offers help with University applications, and Latin to GCSE.
Outside of teaching, Fintan is an avid reader, great lover of Italian cooking and reluctant owner of a temperamental (if elegant) 70s bicycle. He is also a published poet, and a mentor with Arts Emergency.
“I wanted to say that Fintan has been fantastic. He’s clearly made a significant difference and A. has enjoyed working with him. He’s a thoroughly nice young man too.” (11+)
