Emma H

Emma holds a BA in Ancient and Modern History from Balliol College, University of Oxford, and an MPhil in Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies from St. Johns College, University of Cambridge. She received A*AA at A-Level in English Literature, Mathematics and History, respectively, and 5A*s and 6As at GCSE, receiving four awards in academic achievement. She has been tutoring and mentoring young people part-time for four years, specialising in primary age, History A-Level, and university entrance. She is in the early stages of her career as a theatre director, and brings creativity and enthusiasm in this role to her tutoring approach.

Previously tutoring both Maths and English skills to students aged 9-11, Emma offers 11+ preparation with particular emphasis on nurturing enjoyment and love for the subject. Taking a holistic approach, combining creative activities with exam practice, general confidence building with interview technique, fosters organic success with the child at the centre, taking ownership.

Emma also has extensive experience working with History A-Level students for a wide range of exam boards and course subjects, on all aspects of the qualification, from exam technique to guidance on coursework. University entrance for humanities subjects and, particularly, Oxbridge entry for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, are also related areas Emma has previously assisted students with, helping with entrance exams, personal statements and interview preparation.
