Ellie is a creative, friendly and patient tutor with a good sprinkling of fun. She has six years of teaching experience in a variety of education provisions, and has been working as a tutor with Dulwich Tutors for the last three years, supporting over ten families with children aged between 4-17.
Ellie graduated in 2015 with a first class BA (Hons) degree in Education & Theology from Durham University. The ‘education’ part of her degree provided her with a breadth of knowledge of the theories & practices of teaching, giving her an excellent foundation for ensuring effective tuition. Prior to university, Ellie attended a selective girls’ grammar school in Surrey where she gained an A* & 2A’s for her A Levels in Psychology, Religious Studies and Drama and an A for Mathematics AS Level.
Ellie has experience as a teaching assistant in both state-funded and independent primary schools in London and the South East, working in the Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1 & 2. She spent a year as a Kindergarten teacher in Dominica, where she also ran a Performing Arts Programme. She has extensive experience supporting students with SEN, most notably as a one-to-one support worker for a year 3 boy with Autism and as a Learning Support Assistant at a school for children with Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities. Having worked as a classroom assistant in a Pupil Referral Unit, Ellie also has excellent behaviour management skills and the required patience and sensitivity to appropriately support those with challenging behaviour.
Ellie specialises in 7+ and 11+ tuition, plus English, Maths, Geography and all three Sciences up to GCSE and Psychology & Religious Studies up to A Level. She is also able to provide general homework and revision support, including improving essay writing skills.
