Damien is a highly experienced, dynamic tutor with a tailored approach. With vast experience in SEN, Damien specialises in English and History through 13+, GCSE, iGCSE, AS & A Level. 

 

Damien comes from a background of working in mainstream schools as a Teaching Assistant, and Learning Support Assistant working 1 to 1 with students who have additional needs: dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism and ADHD. He prides himself on his ability to deliver lessons which are personalised, lessons which give the student agency and steadily build their confidence. 

 

Originally from Derry in the north of Ireland, Damien’s first degree is in Modern and Contemporary History. He began working in mainstream schools in London over a decade ago. He spent concerted periods in Old Ford Primary (Tower Hamlets) and St. Stephen’s COE Primary in St. Margaret’s. 

 

As a private tutor, Damien has been working for over a decade. With primary age children, he has worked across the subjects and with a range of needs, often in conjunction with their schools. (For example Abingdon House, Marlybone) His specialised subjects are English and History up to A Level. Damien has taken students to A*s and worked across the various exam boards, AQA, Edxcel, Cambridge. Students have gained entrance to Merchant Taylors, Haberdashers’ Boys, Cardinal Vaughan Memorial, Bishop Ramsey. 

 

Alongside his work in education, Damien is an accomplished writer and actor; as an actor he has worked on screen in the UK and Ireland &  toured internationally with stage productions. As a writer he has had plays produced in London and online and he currently has projects in development with production companies in the UK and Ireland. Creative writing is therefore something that Damien takes particular enjoyment from teaching. 

 

His hobbies include reading, cycling and sport: football, boxing, basketball…
