With a notable academic record (100% score in multiple A Level exams), a degree in Literature, Film and Theatre from the University of Manchester, and an ever-growing list of postgraduate qualifications from institutions including Goldsmiths University (Screenwriting), RADA (Directing), and The University of Kingston (TEFL Teaching), she has demonstrated an ongoing love for and commitment to learning, and her knowledge of what it takes to achieve one’s goals.
Working with children, teenagers and adults at all stages in their academic careers – from pre-school to postgraduate – she has seen first-hand literally thousands of times just how powerful and effective the tutor-tutee relationship can be as a catalyst for learner development. Thanks to her strong national and international profile, the majority of her work is private and one-to-one, though she has also been recruited to work as an intervention specialist by schools including The BRIT School, EPA Academy of Performing Arts and The Ormiston Academy Trust.
She specialises in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences: English Literature and Language, Government and Politics, Philosophy, Sociology, Film Studies, Theatre Studies and Social Work. She is a passionate advocate for the importance of her subjects and loves to see her passion and enjoyment of them rub off on her students. Whether its mastering essay writing technique or getting to grips with the grittier aspects of an academic theory, she works with her students at a pace that is right for them, and always goes the extra mile to ensure they are left feeling confident and in command of their subject.
She also has an unbeatable track record of helping students gain entrance to their first choice of school. These have included (but are not limited to) Eton, Westminster, Alleyn’s, St Paul’s School for Girls, JAGS, and Wycomb Abbey. She understands the challenges posed by the application process and can help students and families with every aspect of the journey, from choosing the right school to preparing for the interview.
Her approach as a tutor has been described as both methodical and fun. Her rich experience in the sector allows her to create lessons that call upon a wide range of learning strategies to meet the unique needs of every student. Students find themselves thinking, talking and practicing their skills in every tutorial. Crucially, rather than supplying a pupil an answer, she will always encourage a pupil to achieve the satisfaction of finding it for themselves.
Daisy-May aims have a long-lasting effect on all the pupils she works with, instilling in them a passion for learning, a mature and organised approach to studying, and the academic and personal skills that they need to achieve their goals. The long-lasting relationships she builds with clients, and the nature of the reviews she receives, are testament to this.
