I am an experienced and qualified dyslexia specialist who has a postgraduate qualification in dyslexia and literacy and holds a current assessment practising certificate. I can provide full diagnostics dyslexia assessments.
The aim of an assessment is not only to give a formal identification of dyslexia, but to highlight hstrengths and relative areas of weakness and create a tailored teaching plan.
An assessment can take 2-3 hours, although for younger children this could be split into two sessions. This will involve an interview, puzzles, word games and literacy tasks. I make great effort to put the person at ease and make the experience positive. There are no ‘rights or wrongs’ in an assessment and the aim is to examine each person’s learning profile to be able to identify ways forward.
All tests used are standardised as recommended by PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties). My assessments follow strict guidelines outlined by The Department of Education and Skills.
Following the assessment the results are written in an Dyslexia Assessment Report. I would give feedback and answer any questions.
