Archie grew up in Dulwich and attended Alleyn’s School, where he obtained 3A*s (Latin, Maths, Religious Studies) and an A (Spanish) at A Level. He then went on to study at King’s College Cambridge and was awarded a double 1st in Classics. He has several years experience tutoring Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation to A-Level, and Maths to GCSE.
From 2017-18 he worked as a teacher of Classics at Dulwich College, teaching Latin and Ancient Greek at all levels up to A-Level, on both OCR and Pre-U examination syllabuses. This classroom experience has been invaluable not only in solidifying his knowledge of syllabus requirements, but also in developing a clear and concise teaching method, and the flexibility to explain difficult ideas in a variety of ways.
Archie believes that the best one-to-one tutors create a positive and approachable working environment, and experience tells him this is the best way to achieve high results. He aims to build a friendly atmosphere that allows students to push themselves towards their potential. He knows that a key part of developing a student’s self-belief is pin-pointing the best method of learning for the individual, and as such he is always looking for different ways to teach a subject that might help build confidence and understanding. He has been trained by our in-house team in 7+ and 11+ exam tuition.
Archie is a keen musician, playing the Saxophone to Diploma level, and in his spare time can be found writing comedy songs.
