Anna-Maria is a friendly and creative tutor who engages learners through making creative resources that reflect their personality and their interests. As a highly experienced teacher in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities she is skilled at supporting learners to overcome or work around barriers to learning helping develop confidence and independence. Having worked as a teacher and a carer support manager she is able to work collaboratively with families and is understanding of the challenges many families experience.
Anna-Maria is experienced with teaching primary school aged children particularly those requiring Education Health and Care Plans (previously referred to as ‘statemented’ children) or with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. She has also taught post 16 learners and ‘looked after children’ in care placements experiencing emotional challenges. In addition to functional skills literacy and numeracy Anna-Maria incorporates social and personal development skills in the learning experiences of this cohort to help build confidence, self-esteem and independence.
Anna-Maria has a degree in Fine Art, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (post comp) including D32/33 Assessors Award and A Levels in Art and English Literature. She is well trained in many relevant areas including Lead Safeguarding Officer, Sensory Processing Disorder and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
