Profile
Andrea grew up on the South Coast and was educated at Our Lady of Sion School in Worthing, completing A-Levels in psychology, biology and chemistry. She went on to study psychology and philosophy at Oxford University, completing this dual-honours degree in 2011. She then completed a master’s degree at King’s College London before completing a PhD in philosophy with the University of Leeds in 2018.
While studying for her PhD, Andrea worked for a charitable organisation that brings academic researchers into schools. Andrea taught philosophy to children aged 10 to 18, helping her students develop critical reasoning skills and essay-writing skills. This is also where Andrea discovered her passion for education. Andrea went on to train as a teacher and has worked as a primary school teacher since achieving Qualified Teacher Status in 2020.
Andrea has extensive experience teaching and tutoring privately for a range of abilities and ages, from primary to undergraduate level. Andrea believes that students learn best when they take ownership of their learning, and through teaching that is responsive to their learning needs. Andrea aims to instil confidence in her students so that they feel comfortable taking on academic challenges and expressing themselves.
