Alex has 7 years’ experience as a qualified teacher in London, having trained through the prestigious Teach First Leadership Development. His experience teaching and tutoring Maths and Science is even longer, having started his education career as a teaching assistant – this experience helped him be sensitive to the needs of children of all abilities. Alex’s most recent teaching appointment was as Head of Physics at one of the leading comprehensives in the country in terms of results and value-added progress (judged Outstanding by Ofsted).
Alex is a registered examiner with OCR, but he has experience teaching and tutoring all the major exam boards. As well as a strong background in education, he has a Natural Sciences degree from the University of Cambridge. Alex draws on this experience for any Oxbridge preparation classes which he delivers.
Alex has an MSc in mathematics (Applied Statistics) from Birkbeck, University of London, for which he received a Distinction. He is currently researching at the School of Public Health and Epidemiology at Imperial College London, and his research interests are in teenage mental health.
