Alex is a creative, positive and enthusiastic tutor, giving students support in the Art, Design and Textile subjects. Alex’s tutorial sessions are based on guiding and helping students with their projects, ranging from early secondary school through to GCSE and A level guidance and helping students prepare their portfolios for the next steps. Alex is eager to help students gain confidence in their work and enjoy the creative process, experimenting with ideas and researching different artists and designers. She considers art and design to be very important in education and from experience herself know how important it is to get the right guidance and help from different tutors. There are so many exciting opportunities in the Art, Design and Textile world that Alex would love to show and explore in her tutorials. She has worked with students before helping them prepare their portfolios for foundation and BA degrees.
After gaining her Alevels in Art, Design Technology and Theatre Studies, Alex went on to do her Foundation Degree at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. She then followed on from this by her BA textile degree at The Glasgow School of Art. After graduating Alex spent a year in the industry working for Diane Von Furstenberg before doing her masters in Textile Design at The Royal College of Art. She has had an amazing experience throughout her education, collaborating with different designers and learning more about the textile industry and design world.
Alex now works as a Print Designer at Liberty, designing the new art fabric collections, developing new artwork and working on colour concepts. Liberty is such an amazing and true English Heritage brand to be working and Alex hopes to share some of her experiences with her students depending of their needs. Art and Design play a very important role in Alex’s life but she also enjoys making the most of other opportunities in London. In her spare time she enjoys singing in a choir, working on projects, going to music gigs, exploring new places in London with her friends and travelling.
