Jennie has fifteen years of experience teaching and tutoring children between the ages of four and eighteen. Since completing her PGCE at the University of Cambridge she has taught in several ‘Outstanding’ rated primary schools across London, including classes which she has successfully prepared for the Key Stage 1 and 2 SATs exams. Through tutoring she has helped 3 students to gain places at independent schools. Jennie believes that building a strong rapport with children is an essential part of successful teaching and learning and she enjoys differentiating her lessons to cater for the individual needs and interests of her students. Jennie is very experienced in working with children with a wide range of special educational needs and holds the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination which she recently studied for at UCL’s Institute of Education.
For her undergraduate degree Jennie studied English and History at Kent University and these are two subjects which she is particularly passionate about teaching. Following this, Jennie spent nine years teaching English to children and teenagers in Spain and Chile, both in schools and through tuition in their homes. As a result she is highly skilled in the teaching of both English language (including preparing children for SPAG tests at the end of Key stages 1 and 2) and Spanish, which she speaks fluently. Jennie has also worked as a tutor and examiner for the Cambridge Young Learners English exam board.
