Shannon is a recent Oxford University Graduate, gaining a BA in Experimental Psychology in 2017 and a distinction in her first year of study. She has always had a thirst for Academia and relishes the opportunity to help others on their academic journey; she is committed to making ‘good education’ accessible to all. At Oxford, she majored in Education and Psychology – exploring, amongst other things, the best way to teach students how to learn.
Having experience of gaining competitive Scholarships in all three of her Secondary Schools including Emanuel School and Chelsea Independent College, she is well versed in mastering common entrance exams as well as the 11+ and 13+.
For the past four years she has worked as both a freelance private tutor and a teaching assistant in a variety of tutoring centres across England including Kumon. She prides herself on having a relaxed and open tutoring style, encouraging collaboration in learning as opposed to a dictatorship. Rote memorisation will only get you so far – it is a student’s engagement with the subject and deeper understanding of the concepts to be learned which is the key to success!
When she isn’t tutoring, she is a professional Actress with a thirst for Theatre and any opportunity to stimulate the imagination. Tutoring enables her to harness her love of creativity to produce learning programmes that are appropriate for the individual client; no two students are the same.
