Tom is a personable and enthusiastic tutor with extensive tutoring experience. He is a final year student at Oxford University, reading Philosophy, Politics & Economics. At Oxford, he has been awarded an academic scholarship for achieving First Class results in all of his university examinations to date.
He has been tutoring in Maths, Sciences, Economics and Oxbridge Entrance Preparation for over three years. He spent his Gap Year successfully coaching Common Entrance examinations, with his pupils achieving scholarships at Radley and Eton. Tom likes to bring out the best in his pupils by engaging them in the subject. He challenges his pupils to think for themselves, believing that subject material is best understood when pupils take part ownership in the learning process. Tom is quick to identify his pupils’ areas of difficulty and his cheerful style of tutoring helps to build, often, much needed confidence in the subject.
Tom grew up in Kent and attended Sevenoaks School, where he was Head Boy. He achieved 42 points in the International Baccalaureate and now enjoys passing on the wisdom of how to succeed in a range of public exams.
Tom is a keen sportsman and at Oxford mixes golf with boxing, currently captaining Oxford University Amateur Boxing Club. Aside from sport he is an avid music listener and also tries his hand at playing the piano.
Tom is only available for online tuition.
“My son got a scholarship (we found out today), so we are very grateful for all Emmanuel did. My son really enjoyed the tutorials; they gave him confidence and polished his exam technique.”
Tom Fenton is a marvellous tutor, striking a perfect balance of erudition, encouragement, judicious pressure, kindness and humour. His work with my daughter produced stellar results in the form of three scholarships; I can’t recommend him too highly.
