Tim is especially good at engaging with tutees and making material relatable, whilst also having a knack for getting to the root cause of gulfs in understanding and tailoring material to how each child thinks and learns best. As a result Tim is well suited to tutees who need to build confidence in problem subjects and works well with younger tutees. Tim really enjoys this problem solving approach to instilling good foundations in Maths and English for 7+ and 11+ and has experience in preparing tutees for City of London School, Mill Hill and Highgate.
In his own words: “I attended St Paul’s School, Colet Court and The University of Edinburgh, receiving an MA in History. I particularly love teaching History as I love showing how themes interlink with narrative and relating societal trends and global consequences to the present day. I love teaching English Literature as well since the same thematic approach can be applied.
I am an actor so I have great communication skills, I can make material interesting and I’m a great storyteller. I also write and produce my own work as well as being a semi-professional juggler.”
“My son got a scholarship (we found out today), so we are very grateful for all Emmanuel did. My son really enjoyed the tutorials; they gave him confidence and polished his exam technique.”
Tom Fenton is a marvellous tutor, striking a perfect balance of erudition, encouragement, judicious pressure, kindness and humour. His work with my daughter produced stellar results in the form of three scholarships; I can’t recommend him too highly.
