Oliver is an experienced Physics teacher as well as having careers in both business and engineering. He has a very wide view of the world of Science and Engineering and has always stayed very close to the scientific community to stay up to date with current developments. His style of teaching is to identify the main areas for development and then target activities to build on the students current knowledge. This process keeps checking all the way along that the student has really learned the topic and is able to answer exam questions using the correct language and structure.
In his 10 years of teaching both A level and GCSE Science he has had the challenge of many different types of students, those that need their confidence building as well as those who are aiming at the very highest grades. He has taught across a wide range of different exam boards and uses a lot of key skills to improve students work such as drawing and interpreting graphs, developing algebra and understanding what exam questions want.
Oliver’s main attribute though is the interest and examples that he can use to make the subjects he is teaching come alive. Using his wide range of experience he is adept at finding everyday examples to reinforce the learning. With clear explanations and his enthusiasm learning is made to feel enjoyable as well as being effective.
Having taught in a range of south London secondary schools such as Graveney, Harris Academy and The Elmgreen School Oliver has access to a wide range of materials and techniques that are proven to work and suitable for a range of learners.
“My son got a scholarship (we found out today), so we are very grateful for all Emmanuel did. My son really enjoyed the tutorials; they gave him confidence and polished his exam technique.”
Tom Fenton is a marvellous tutor, striking a perfect balance of erudition, encouragement, judicious pressure, kindness and humour. His work with my daughter produced stellar results in the form of three scholarships; I can’t recommend him too highly.
