Max completed thirteen years at Alleyn’s School in 2009 with 9 GCSEs (2 A*s, 3 As and 4 Bs) and 2 As and 1 B at A level. He was a prefect and Vice-House Captain, active in sports and theatre, and knows well the challenges facing students at every level of their education. Since then he has achieved a First Class degree in English Literature and American Studies from the Universities of Sussex and Tulane, New Orleans. He also has extensive experience in tutoring for Kumon, having taught 5-12 year olds in maths and English (not to mention also working in a Herne Hill toyshop for two years.)
Max is an avid conversationalist, and believes in co-operative discovery as the foremost tool in education. Through his approachable and enthusiastic manner, he is seeking to ignite within students the passion that invariably breeds a work ethic crucial to success in the modern school, as well as the creative original thought that is so often overlooked.
“My son got a scholarship (we found out today), so we are very grateful for all Emmanuel did. My son really enjoyed the tutorials; they gave him confidence and polished his exam technique.”
Tom Fenton is a marvellous tutor, striking a perfect balance of erudition, encouragement, judicious pressure, kindness and humour. His work with my daughter produced stellar results in the form of three scholarships; I can’t recommend him too highly.
