Julie is a positive, bright and committed tutor with an excellent academic record. She is patient and dedicated to building confidence in her students, caring enormously about their understanding and progress.

She has experience tutoring English, Maths and Verbal/ Non-verbal Reasoning to students in years 3-8, in preparation for Common Entrance at 11+ and 13+, for leading secondary schools including Alleyn’s, Brighton College, Tonbridge School, Radley College, Whitgift School, JAGS, Benenden School and Wimbledon High. She is also fluent in French and Spanish, and tutors both languages up to GCSE level.

Julie studied Maths, English, French and Spanish at A-level at St Mary’s School, Ascot, and then completed a BA degree in Modern Languages and Literature from the University of Bristol and a Master’s in Publishing Studies from City University.

She tutors students with a range of different learning strengths and difficulties — from those who may be gifted but perhaps have a short attention span or need to build their confidence or positivity around a subject, to others who find the work challenging or do not have the chance to work at their own pace in class.

An avid reader, Julie also loves theatre, travelling and music. She is passionate about books and learning, and she has worked in publishing as a literary agent and as an audiobook producer.

“Julie was brilliant for Fred. He was very apprehensive about having a tutor as he thought it would be yet more hard work but Julie made sure that the sessions were about confidence building and self esteem as well as the work. She has infinite patience and was extremely kind to Fred.” (year 6, English 11+)

“Can we take this opportunity to tell you how very happy we are with Jules, she has been absolutely fantastic and we look forward to continuing to work with her into the future.” (year 3, Maths 11+)

“Anna is really enjoying her classes; it is the first time I have seen her commit to her study with anyone.” (year 11, Spanish GCSE)

“It is my pleasure to recommend Julie as a Tutor of French. Julie has been tutoring my 12 year old daughter whilst she has been waiting for a school place. I have been impressed by how she has been able to teach with my daughters own text book as well as preparing additional material of her own and in providing the curriculum study I requested.

Julie had quickly recognised the level at which to engage my daughter who has enjoyed her lessons and felt they have been productive and never dull.

Julie has always been punctual and polite and it has been a pleasure to have her tutoring my daughter, I will be more than happy to return to her if my daughter needs help in the future.” (year 8, French 13+)
