Jack is a highly-experienced tutor who has worked at several leading independent schools, including Dulwich College and City of London School. He has worked extensively with students as they study for GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level examinations and Oxbridge applications, and has also worked as a private tutor for pupils from a range of schools, including Alleyn’s and Westminster. Jack has high expectations for his students, and works hard to enable them to reach their potential in his subject, while also ensuring that his lessons are accessible and fun.
As a former Head of English, Jack has an excellent understanding of what is required for success in 11+ and Common Entrance, as well as the demands of the examination boards at (I)GCSE and A-Level. He is a graduate of Oxford University who also has an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck College, London, and who loves to see his pupils improve as readers, writers and users of English. In his spare time, Jack reads and writes a great deal himself. He is also a keen cook, cycling fan, and student of Spanish.
“My son got a scholarship (we found out today), so we are very grateful for all Emmanuel did. My son really enjoyed the tutorials; they gave him confidence and polished his exam technique.”
Tom Fenton is a marvellous tutor, striking a perfect balance of erudition, encouragement, judicious pressure, kindness and humour. His work with my daughter produced stellar results in the form of three scholarships; I can’t recommend him too highly.
