Benedict is an experienced secondary school teacher and is currently head of Humanities at the new Charter School East Dulwich. After gaining a 2:1 in History from the University of Manchester in 2005, and then an MA in Classical Acting from the Central School of Speech and Drama, Benedict went on to become an award winning playwright and actor. It was during this time that he started working as a tutor and teaching assistant at a range of schools across the capital. Benedict joined Teach First in 2011 where he started teaching Mathematics and Drama at a school in Brixton, before becoming a teacher of History and Politics at the same school. During the last two years, Benedict taught two highly challenging classes, one in GCSE History and the other in A-Level Politics. In the summer of 2016 the classes went on to achieve, respectively, 83% and 85% A*-C grades.
Benedict has a very caring style and is committed to developing strong relationships with all of his students. He has many years experience of modulating his approach to suit the needs of a broad range of learners, and is equally adept at being engaging, inspiring, motivating and kind. Benedict prides himself on fostering a relaxed, exciting and yet purposeful environment in which his students thrive.
