Alice is a warm, friendly and engaging tutor, with a lot of patience. She recently graduated from Edinburgh University with first class honours in English Literature, and is passionate about the power of literature to fuel, not only imagination, but also intellectual curiosity. For Alice, self-belief lies at the heart of good teaching, and she sees her role as a tutor to help pupils get excited by the subject, making sure every lesson is personalised to each pupils personality. This way, learning is fun and much more effective! She likes to find creative ways to approach the lessons and make them accessible, building confidence through encouragement.
Alice is also a writer and keen musician, playing the piano and oboe to grade 8. In her spare time she enjoys trying to teach herself jazz improvisation and attempt to get better at surfing.
“My son got a scholarship (we found out today), so we are very grateful for all Emmanuel did. My son really enjoyed the tutorials; they gave him confidence and polished his exam technique.”
Tom Fenton is a marvellous tutor, striking a perfect balance of erudition, encouragement, judicious pressure, kindness and humour. His work with my daughter produced stellar results in the form of three scholarships; I can’t recommend him too highly.
